Héctor Rivadavia Gómez : ウィキペディア英語版 | Héctor Rivadavia Gómez Héctor Rivadavia Gomez was a journalist and football Director of the Uruguay Association Football League. He was the honorary president of the CONMEBOL from 1920 to 1936. ==Biography== He was responsible for first proposing the idea of a South American football confederation, the origins of CONMEBOL. An old personal project of Gómez, it became a distinct possibility during a South American Championship held in Buenos Aires between July 2 and July 17, 1916, as part of the commemorations of Argentina's independence centenary. On July 9, 1916, (the exact day of the 100th anniversary of Argentina's declaration of independence), the football leaders of Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay met in Buenos Aires to study his idea, which was approved ad-referendum by each of the national associations.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Eugenio Figueredo will attend the tribute to Héctor Rivadavia Gómez )〕
